A cautionary tale for rockers everywhere
An excerpt from an interview with Philip Anselmo, who used to be in a band with now-dead-guy Dimebag Darrell. At first glance it seems like Anselmo is suggesting Darrell's death, but if you're not limited to assumptions based on glances you see he's discussing a deeper problem (emphasis mine): "He would attack me, vocally. And just knowing that he was so much smaller than me I could kill him like a fuckin' piece of vapor, you know, he would turn into vapor — his chin would, at least, if I fuckin' smacked it. And he knows that. The world should know that. So physically, of course, he deserves to be beaten severely."But of course, that's criminal and I won't do such a thing… Really, I just let him prattle on. I grew very tired of it very quickly, and whenever it came up, like it has come up today, I just chose to wish them the best of luck. And in all honesty I really wish that they would be men, which is very hard for them, figuring that they were living in their mother's house until they're 30 years old. In comparison, I was on the street by choice at the age of 15, living anywhere I could — but living, and successfully living, through my will." --spinn | | Tuesday, July 20th, 2004 | | 10:44 am |
SANDMAN
In an article featuring our favorite temping site in the Fairfield Weekly, Sean found this site. I'm really digging this stuff, it's hilarious. | | Tuesday, July 13th, 2004 | | 11:47 am |
This bears a passing resemblance...
... to a certain someone we know. Or maybe that other guy, remember him? Or the other one, maybe him - if ya squint, it kinda seems like him too. Ganked from here for those who insist on context: "Ultimately, it is virtually impossible to detect a serial killer. Many seem to be quiet normal in their everyday lives, only some actually tend to act differently to the general population. Many have stated that it is easy to fool society, especially psychiatrists, by simply stating what they want to hear. Nor is there any way of detecting for certain who might become a homicidal maniac. But by comparing many past cases it is possible to put together a list of general personality traits that are common in serial killers, and that may prove useful in determining future killers. The F.B.I has its own list, but due to its unavailability I have prepared my own. Traits that should be looked at when trying to decide if a person is a potential killer include: Social withdrawal, abnormal dependence’s on ones mother or ulcerated relations with ones parents, hypochondria or other attention seeking behavior including forms of clothing, delusional mind as to grandeur, severe depression, a general feeling of emptiness as to the future, inability to take criticisms, a general feeling of being mistreated, inability to assert ones self, parental taunts as to ones inability to be sufficient (or as I prefer to call it - the Hitchcock ‘Psycho’ syndrome), mood disorders, and a general failing in attempts to succeed. Of course these are very general points, and even if someone had the majority of these (as I do), it would not necessarily mean that they would become serial killers, it is only meant as a point of reference." The emphasis is mine, not the authors'. That last sentence gives a little glimmer of hope, but I sure wouldn't want to be a hooker in Evansville or St. Paul right about now. If someone could pass along a message for us lots42 is incredulous that the Republican Party actually organizes talking points for conservative pundits. He's blocked this journal from posting, so if some kind soul would let him know of this perfectly reasonable and non-sardonic entry, we'd appreciate it. If you paste it as a comment into the appropriate thread on his journal, I'll buy you a beer next time I see you. Hey Lots, use your favorite search engine -- most Republican Party Web sites have a section called "Talking Points." Search alltheweb.com for "republican party" AND "talking points" and see what you get. Now, keep in mind, you've set up an impossible goal. Of course the White House doesn't " control all conservative pundits." "Pundit," unfortunately, isn't a job you can be fired from. But most of them are happy to follow the party line -- that's where the term came from. Also see the site http://www.gopteamleader.com/ , which writes letters to the editor and posts them on the site for Republicans to copy and paste if they're too lazy to do it themselves. They can actually win prizes for getting an unchanged letter into papers. So yes, Clarke was right. (b.s.) Current Mood: Helpful | | Monday, April 5th, 2004 | | 1:55 pm |
Truly I am p\/\/n3d
Realizing that a certain manslug was incapable of responding by himself without a Speak & Spell, one Lori -- I assume thetaet, or 80s_child@bigmailbox.net, has jumped in to shame me. I have to admit, it isn't a half-bad effort. I'm glad she has that much free time on her hands. b. | | Friday, March 19th, 2004 | | 2:59 pm |
A Correction
One of our friends has had a picture drawn of him as the "furry" he so desperately wishes he was. We've found the image close, but on review, we modified it slightly to be a little more realistic: Since all I have at work is Paint, you'll have to imagine the stomach flab drooping over the belt. While browsing through friends lists....
I happened upon this little gem: mickiesworld. Read the top entry. If/when this post is heard about and it gets deleted from her journal, I'll post the mirrored archive version. So if I take the meaning behind this correctly, her brother did not tell her about something he found concerning her daughter, his niece. Instead he paraded it around to his secret list of internet friends for their mocking and derision. I seem to recall someone getting really upset because a group of people on the internet were poking fun at and mocking someone in a private forum, and that person made the knowledge public because not doing so would be "the wrong thing". This makes me giggle. A lot. Not as much as this quote though: "I do realize this is your journal, and you can post anything you want in it, but I do not post in my journal about the trials and tribulations of my 27 year old brother who is still living with mommy, so I would appreciate it if you left my children out of yours. " BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH That must have made for one HELL of a Thanksgiving dinner with the family. Of course, this is assuming her brother actually left his room and went downstairs to join the family for a meal. I'll admit it's a bit of a stretch. My only regret is that vballchick2 was no longer on the friends list when this happens. I'd love to see what this all was about. good times, good times... - Leth (who will pay good Canadian money for the info) | | Thursday, December 18th, 2003 | | 4:06 pm |
BOW TO THE CHAIRMAN
I found this going through some of my archives, and realized I had never shared it with the world... Enjoy! (Yes, before you ask, it's a direct quote) Signed, Gee, I wonder who.... | | Friday, December 12th, 2003 | | 9:13 am |
If It Helps Him Get Over It
We can't really say we know what's going on with our favorite Lost Son -- maybe he's married, got a lucrative gig, finally moved out, and only occasionally playing with small superhero figurines. But back in the days when our silly teenage Texas mole was keeping us all entertained, he was still moping about his li'l Witchy Bitch... even though he publicly proclaimed in an IRC channel that he'd planned to cheat on her at the end of 2001. If it helps him work through his pain, a quick Google search on "Isis Skysong" turns up almost nothing... except for a personal ad she posted in Feb. 2001, long before *he* was going to cheat on *her*. http://www.witchvox.com/vn/vn_detail/dt_pa.html?a=usil&id=94799(Note her dislikes -- they were doomed from the start.) Oh well...
Like a Fox show, it all comes to an end too soon, but it was a lot of fun while it lasted. We all enjoyed a good thing, and we're grateful for the opportunity. Although, to be honest, I think that the story had jumped the shark, though, after the Long Run With Boots. The only real disappointment is that we won't get to see all the angry, lashing out children completely not understanding and of course falling back on tired, cliched accusations. I'd be willing to bet that the credit/blame/whatever will go to the wrong spot, because of course that is the only possibility. Note to detectives: we have been using that method for many months. Congrats for finally catching on. Also, thanks for "not reading" at all. I'd sign this, but I don't want to deprive anyone of the fun of being a Super Sleuth Edit: Brouhaha? behehe....that *was* funny. If you ever find it, please let us know, we were never able to find one. | | Tuesday, July 8th, 2003 | | 3:32 pm |
